Image Perceptual Similarity Metrics for the Assessment of Basal Cell Carcinoma

چکیده

Efficient management of basal cell carcinomas (BCC) requires reliable assessments both tumors and post-treatment scars. We aimed to estimate image similarity metrics that account for BCC’s perceptual color texture deviation from perilesional skin. In total, 176 clinical photographs BCC were assessed by six physicians using a visual scale. Internal consistency inter-rater agreement estimated Cronbach’s α, weighted Gwet’s AC2, quadratic Cohen’s kappa. The mean scores used validate range employing different spaces, distances, embeddings pre-trained VGG16 neural network. calculated similarities transformed into discrete values ordinal logistic regression models. Bray–Curtis distance in the YIQ model rectified ‘fc6’ layer minimized squared error demonstrated strong performance representing similarities. Box plot analysis Wilcoxon rank-sum test visualize compare levels agreement, conducted on random validation round between two groups: ‘Human–System’ ‘Human–Human.’ proposed comparable terms internal with human raters. findings suggest offer robust cost-effective approach monitoring treatment outcomes settings.

ANGIOGENESIS ASSESSMENT IN BASAL CELL CARCINOMA

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is currently the most common cutaneous cancer found in humans. Although it generally shows a relatively benign course (BCCl), some cases show aggressive behavior (BCC2). Until recently, traditional histologic diagnostic criteria have failed to discriminate unequivocally between BCC 1 and BCC2. In this study we selected 50 cases of BCC and categorized them into tw...

Basal cell carcinoma of the lower extremities

Background: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC), the most common form of skin cancer, usually occurs in the sun-exposed areas of the body like head and neck, yet is also seen in unexpected sites. Myriad studies have mentioned a lower limb BCC incidence rate of 1.5-13.5%.Methods: The present retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 650 BCC patients, who were referred to the dermatology tumor ...

The Usefulness of CD10 in Distinguishing between Cutaneous Basal Cell Carcinoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Background & Objectives:  CD10 is a cell surface enzyme with metalloendopeptidase activity, also known as Common Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia Antigen, which mainly serves as a marker for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). To date and to the best of our knowledge, only few comparative immunohistochemical studies have assessed CD10 expression in cutaneous epithelial neoplasms. Our goal was to d...

Multi-resolution Structural Degradation Metrics for Perceptual Image Quality Assessment

In this paper, a multi-resolution analysis is proposed for image quality assessment. Structural features are extracted from each level of a pyramid decomposition that accurately represents the multiple scales of processing in the human visual system. To obtain an overall quality measure the individual level metrics are accumulated over the considered pyramid levels. Two different metric design ...
